Weekly Market Note — Week of September 9, 2026

S&P 500 was essentially flat for the week (−0.16%) while U.S. technology (XLK) gained 1.17%, with a sharper intraday move in the latest session.

The S&P 500 (^GSPC) closed the week at 7,673.52, down 0.16% over the week and off 1.08% in the latest session. Price action was muted on the week, and the index remains well within its 52‑week range of 6,316.91–7,816.70.

The U.S. technology sector (XLK) finished at 187.87, up 1.17% for the week and essentially flat in the most recent session (−0.05%). Technology’s weekly outperformance contrasted with the broader market’s small decline and keeps XLK inside its 52‑week range of 126.68–198.73.
