Market Note — Week of Aug 19, 2026

S&P 500 closed at 7,691.76 after a modest weekly decline and a strong late-session rebound; technology (XLK 185.62) showed pronounced intraday strength despite a small weekly drop.

U.S. equities were mixed this week. The S&P 500 finished at 7,691.76, roughly down 0.47% for the week but rallied strongly in the latest session (+3.14%), and remains inside its 52-week range of 6,316.91–7,816.70.

Large-cap technology displayed similar intraday strength: XLK closed at 185.62, down about 0.25% on the week but up 5.71% in the most recent session, and sits within a 52-week range of 126.68–198.73.

Market action continues to reflect sensitivity to macroeconomic and policy signals alongside company-level developments; volatility remains a feature and can drive rapid sector rotation even without a clear change in the broader trend.

What this means for our strategy: we maintain our systematic, risk-disciplined exposure to U.S. equities and technology while preserving liquidity and adhering to position-size and drawdown limits. Pre-defined signals will drive rebalancing decisions and we will not abandon our risk controls in response to short-term market noise.
